Solution
After the solution was presented to the customer through a simulation in robotguide, we arrived at the following solution.
A Fanuc M-2iA industrial robot was chosen because of its speed. The products run on a conveyor equipped with encoder under a camera system. Both the encoder and camera system are included in the Fanuc control system.
The 26 different products are drawn and linked to the irPick software in the robot. Products are stored in a queue and transported to the robot’s pack position. The robot follows the product by conveyor tracking and picks it up by means of a gripper equipped with vacuum and blow-off technology.
The robot deposits the product into a box on an adjacent conveyor. When a layer is full, the robot communicates this to an external unit which places an intermediate level in the box. Repeating the process, the robot does a “single pick/single place” motion, resulting in up to 60 products per minute.
Robot gripper
The gripper can handle the following products interchangeably:
– 26 different products
– Milk, dark and white chocolate
Functionsgripper
– Suction cup with vacuum and blow-off.
Controlling gripper
– I/O on the robot
